World Changing Website Ideas…

Concept 1: My first world changing idea is based off of the Golden Rule; “Do onto others as you would wish them to do onto you” which translates into, treat people how you would like to be treated. I don’t think that there are enough good things done in the world today. I do not know one person who likes to be disrespected by someone or yelled at or talked about, so why do people do the same to others? I feel that people need to do one good deed a day or say one nice thing to someone a day. I think this would make the world an overall better less violent place. On my sister’s  birthday she went out to dinner with her friend and there was an elderly man who was sitting at the table next to them. He ended up paying for her dinner and also told the waitress that it was her birthday, so they came out with ice cream and were singing happy birthday to her. He left with out her being able to say thank you. So, she felt that it was her responsibility to do something nice for someone else in result. On my website I would have The Golden Rule be the emphasis of the page. I would have examples of simple things that can make a difference in someone’s life, also maybe a place for people to tell stories of their own.

Concept 2: Another world changing idea is only eating organic food or no meat at all. Now a days no one can be exactly sure  what they are actually consuming. The book “My Year of Meats” had a major influence on my believing in this. The book focuses a lot on DES which is a steroid that is used to help make cattle bigger which can result in many effects on the person that eats the meat. On my site I would compare animals that are given the drugs compared to free range animals, also people who eat the meat that has been given steroids compared to vegetarians/people who only eat organic food.

Concept 3: My third World changing website idea is to focus on Recycling, there are many environmental issues that arise from the lack of recycling and I think it could be world changing if more people participated in it. I would show on the site what the world could end up looking like in the future if not everyone recycles and compare it to what it could look like if everyone does recycle. Also show all of the bad things that are happening to the world from not recycling.

The golden rule site is very noble of you. I don’t know too many people that would even think twice about doing something nice for someone else for no reason at all. My friend and I on spring break last year, on our way to California got caught in Atlanta. Planes were grounded because of tornados. Long story short we got no help from the airline and we couldn’t get on another flight until morning. A random woman came up to us and offered to take us to a hotel. After some searching for a hotel that we could afford, she went to one of the nicer places, we stopped, she pulled out a hundred bucks to pay for the hotel and said have a good spring break. She left us saying to make sure we remember to help someone that might be in our situation one day. Pretty cool eh?!

I like your Golden Rule concept. I agree that this doesn’t happen often enough in our world today. This site could get people’s attention and make them realize that maybe they do need to pay more attention to treating people how they would want to be treated.

Out of your ideas for world-changing websites, I think your third idea could really be taken far. There’s all sorts of recycling methods used, and some are custom according to the region it is practiced in. You could offer ideas as to how to recycle in unconventional ways people could do throughout the day. You could point out very small, simple things people can do to contribute to this movement. Your idea about showing how the world would look when everyone did recycle could be very eye-opening, and I think would inspire many people to contribute when they could see how it COULD be.

I do like your idea about the golden rule as well. There are great places that idea could go as well. The explanation you gave for it, you might find to be a bit difficult, only because the subjects could be too broad. If you narrow it down a bit more, I think you will be on to something with it!

I would have to agree with the majority. The golden rule idea seems the strongest. More
people need to support this idea, and maybe change will be in the world. This is idea
is alot like the idea of the move Pay It Forward.. atleast think thats the movie.

Your first idea is gnarly I really dig the concept dealing with golden rule. It is a real introspective concept to mix the old with the new its almost a theory that could go along with sustainability if we do one nice thing a day over time it will help the world be a more sustainable place right on.

    Hello,

I like concept #1. I think this is the one you should focus on most because you are definitely
right about people and how we interact in negative ways towards each other. This website can
bring this to our attention more and hopefully change some people’s attitudes and hearts on
    this subject.
